Maverick 2 Probe Wireless Meat ThermometerREAD REVIEWS

You may have in mind a simple metal thermometer with a dial top. However, numerous meat thermometers have become far more sophisticated. A lot of them have wired probes that are attached to a digital display. A number of them will even speak to you and then set the correct temperature according to your response.

For instance, if you say "medium roast beef", the appropriate temperature will be set and the device will notify you when that temperature is attained. Some of them will even record the temperature of two different foods simultaneously.

There are even meat thermometers that are wireless and allow you to check the temperature remotely, from as far away as 300 feet!

Wireless Meat Thermometers

Let's say you want to cook in your oven or on your grill, but you don't want to hang out right there the whole time it's cooking.  A wireless meat thermometer will allow you to take a handheld wireless until with you anywhere you go so you can keep track of the temperature and remaining cooking time without being tied to the kitchen or grill.

There are a lot of options for this type of digital wireless meat thermometer, but this one is our favorite - and the favorite of many, many other consumers.

For the leave-in types of thermometers this model from Polder is great AND a great price considering it's digital and a pretty "hi-tech" meat thermometer. It is very accurate, and its accuracy was verified by an independent testing laboratory where temperature readings were compared with a calibrated thermometer. Its response time, which indicates how fast it reacts to temperature changes was superb. It has a large number of features and a digital read out. It costs less than $30 here.

If you're deep-frying a turkey (YUM) this meat thermometer from MasterBuilt is perfect and very highly-rated.

The best-selling and most popular leave-in meat thermometer is the Taylor Classic. It's an oldie, but timeless goody and it's cheap - less than $6 here.

Best Remote Meat Thermometer

Hands down, this wireless remote meat thermometer is the very best - especially for grilling and/or smoking meat.  It also comes with a magnetic meat temperature guide that you can attach to your grill so it's always right there for reference.

What's really amazing about the dual remote meat thermometer is that you can not only keep track of the temperature of your meat, but you can also keep an eye on the temperature of your grill and THAT makes for great meat that family and friends will rave about.

Using Your Meat Thermometer

When using a meat thermometer some prefer to use the leave-in type of meat thermometer. With this type of thermometer you can continually monitor the temperature of your meat and most models will provide a mechanism whereby you can be notified when the core temperature of the meat reaches a level of your choosing.
In this manner, you will be continually monitoring the temperature of your roast, and be instantly notified when it attains this temperature, so you can avoid over cooking your meat and thus potentially destroying a very expensive cut of meat.

Most often, we monitor cuts of pork the closest. It is imperative that pork is thoroughly cooked to avoid trichomonas. However, all cuts of meat can benefit from an accurate meat thermometer.
